THE PAVILION is at Roger on the West coast of the Caribbean island of Dominica at an elevation of 700 feet.
It is 10 minutes drive from the capital of Roseau, 5 mins from Canefield Airport and Melville Hall Airport is about one hour drive across the island.

The house is a very simple but comfortable single storey concrete construction, built in 1992, with 2 double bedrooms, a large open plan lounge/dining area with kitchen, and a shower and wc. are off the main room.
There is a large covered terrace opening out from the main room which faces west and the spectacular sunsets.
The property has burglar bars on all entrances and windows and is alarmed and linked to a Security company in Roseau.
Water is supplied from a mains filled tank; electricity is connected and is 240 volts with UK type 3 pin sockets.
Cooking is by bottled gas, which is readily available from petrol stations; there is a telephone with an answering service and internet connection is available.
There is a cooker, fridge, china, cutlery, glasses and basic cooking pots and utensils, but there is no freezer, washing machine or air conditioning as the house is in a cool shady spot and is well ventilated.
Towels and bed linens are supplied and the comfortable beds have mosquito nets.
There is an external sink for hand washing and a covered drying area, and on the way to town there is a fast, efficient laundrette.
There is neither TV nor radio left in the house but a cable company (Marpin Ltd) line runs to the house and can be activated if needed.

The gardens are well established and maintained, extending around the house for about 1/2 acre, and contain banana, guava, mango and paw paw amongst the decorative shrubs.
The garden is bordered by 10 acres of family owned land which is mostly tropical woodland and the main road runs at the top of the land.
The land is very steep and, at some distance from the house, falls away to a wooded ravine at the bottom of which is the Check Hall River which can be accessed higher up the valley.
There are paths running through the garden, a small pond and seats in shady spots to watch the humming birds and the butterflies.

Small buses called Transports run on the main roads throughout the day and car hire can be arranged through Sunbeam Car Rentals Ltd.
Sunbeam will meet you at the airport and take you to the house, and they will also have the keys.
A 4 wheel drive vehicle is recommended as the island roads are steep and bends frequent and the drive down to the house is also steep.

The nearest supermarket, Brizee's Mart which closes at 20.00hrs, is about 7 or 8 mins away on the road into town, and arrangements can be made for basic foodstuffs to be in the house for your arrival.
The house will have been cleaned and we can arrange for a cleaner during your stay if you require.
There is a book in the house with details of the day to day running of the house and an agent in Roseau whom you can call with any problems.

The Pavilion is a simple, comfortable, local style house with spectacular sea views, we hope you decide to stay in the house and if you do , that you will have a wonderful, relaxing stay.
